Description of property:
A village of 14 xisto houses in an extensive and secluded mountain valley.
Quinta de Belide was built in the 19th century by an ex-patriate returning from Argentina. He established the quinta , which subsequently expanded into a village.
The houses are divided into 2 groups: the first group comprises 5 houses grouped along the old village street; the second group of 9 buildings is the main part of the village, a little further along. The buildings are constructed from xisto stone quarried on the property, and two of the houses are 3 storeys tall. All the properties need restoring or redeveloping.
The area of terrain is extensive and comprises 122 hectares of natural scrubland, woodlands, and wooded stream valleys. The main valley floor has been terraced for cultivation.
There are a number of springs, wells and streams on the property providing both domestic water and water for irrigation. In the streams can be found the water lizard - a species that only exists in extremely clean environments.
The village is very secluded, and not easily overlooked, but has good and easy access. It could be used for commercial goat farming or developed for tourism, or it would be very suitable for creating a sustainable community or eco-village.
