In nearby Várzea Grande there is also a mini-market, butchers, pharmacy, post-office, ATM and several cafés, as well as a primary school and health centre.  The town of Góis is just 5 minutes’ drive away in one direction, and Vila Nova de Poiares is 15 minutes in the other. The Metro line to Coimbra which terminates  at Serpins (due for completion in 2012 and currently served by buses) is 15 minutes to the south, and connects with the national rail and bus service on a very regular timetable.
