Inheritance Law in PT

As I understand it even if you have your UK will translated into Portuguese & notarised, PT inheritance laws still apply to property.Therefore on the death of a spouse the kids inherit something like 50% of the property .Is this right? Implications could be quite worrying if the survivor needed to sell up & one of the children objected to the sale price.

in portugal you can not dictate the way your total estate is divided on your death, you can only allocate a percentage of the total estate to where you want it to go, the rest falls under portuguese law and will be distributed between your family, wife/husband get auto 50% kids get a equal share of the rest, minus the part you have stated where it is to go if elsewhere.
your uk will means nothing here, for assets in portugal. you need a portuguese one.
